Frequently asked questions

Common questions I get from clients. If yours isn't here, message me — happy to answer.

How does the initial consultation work?
You drop me a few lines via the form. If it fits, we book a 15–30 minute call (Google Meet / Teams / Discord, your pick). Consultation is free and non-binding.
How quickly do you respond to inquiries?
Within 24 hours on business days, often within a few hours. Weekends usually replied to Monday morning.
Do you work fixed-price or hourly?
I prefer fixed price after a clearly defined discovery phase — you know what you get and at what cost, I know what I'm building. For smaller tasks (audits, consultations, small tweaks) I bill hourly (1,500 CZK/hour).
Who owns the code after project completion?
You. After the final payment, all code is yours — hand it over to another developer, sell it, open-source it. No lock-in licenses, no "our proprietary platform".
What are typical delivery timelines?
Depends on scope. Small tweaks within a week, mid-size site 4–8 weeks, MVP 4–8 weeks, larger applications 2–6 months. The exact timeline is in the written proposal after discovery.
Do you also handle post-launch maintenance?
Yes. After delivery there's a 30-day free warranty. After that, we can agree on a monthly retainer (from 3,000 CZK/mo for a standard site, individually scoped), or call me ad-hoc by the hour.
Do you work with clients across the Czech Republic, or only locally from Opava?
Across the whole Czech Republic. I'm based in Opava (Moravian-Silesian region), but 90 % of communication is online. Around Opava (Ostrava, Bruntál, Krnov, Olomouc, Šumperk) I'm happy to come in person. I also work with international clients.
Do you sign NDAs?
Yes, no problem and at no extra cost. Send me yours, or I can prepare a standard template.
Are you VAT-registered?
Currently not VAT-registered. Invoices are issued without VAT, ID 06748457.
What if I just need a second opinion, not a full solution?
No problem. I do hourly consulting (1,500 CZK/hour) and code reviews. If I know the answer in a few sentences, I'll just reply for free — no need to bill every email.
What technologies do you prefer and why?
PHP/Symfony as a reliable backend stack for most web apps. Python for automation, scraping, AI integrations and fast MVPs. PostgreSQL for new production, MySQL for existing projects. Docker for deploy. The choice depends on the problem, not on my favorite hammer.
Can you take over an in-progress project from another developer?
Yes, unless the code is a total disaster. First I run a quick audit (8,000 CZK) to know what I'm taking on and you know what to expect. Then we agree on scope.
